Our Assignment Today

Due: Today

Step 1: Create a new post that describes your reading life so far this semester (yes, I know we are just one week into it!). You can talk about your indie reading book or our shared reading book, The Alchemist. You can choose from the following menu of ways to respond to your reading (or think of your own).

a. Create a diary/journal entry from your main character's perspective (you put yourself in your main character's shoes and write like you ARE them).
b. Mini theme analysis (discuss what you think one of your themes might be and why you find it interesting/important)
c. Predict what happens to the main characters (or the minor characters) after the end of the book (it's like you're writing the sequel).
d. Connect your book to some other kind of text: a movie, tv show, song, another book, article, poem, or story, or your own life experience. Explain the connection and how you discovered it.
e. compose a song or poem based on your book and include it on your blog, along with a short reflection of how it connects to your book.
f. select a photograph or symbol of some kind, cut and paste it into your blog, and explain how it connects to your book (you could also draw or create a visual representation and place it on your blog).
g. Write a letter to someone you know and explain why you think they could benefit from what you are reading (or something you have read).
h. Reasearch a topic that has come up in your reading, and find out more about it, then describe the connections to your own life as well as the original text.

Step 2: Add links to other students' blogs in the class. Then, visit their blogs, read them, and leave a comment on their blogs responding to something they wrote. You should visit at least 5 other students.
